Twilio WhatsApp · Opt-in policy

WhatsApp messaging consent.

How RideOut collects, records, and respects your opt-in to receive WhatsApp messages — what we send, how often, and how to stop at any time.

Why this page exists.

RideOut sends operational WhatsApp messages — booking confirmations, ride dispatch alerts, ETAs, and receipts — through Twilio's WhatsApp Business API. Meta and Twilio require every sender to publicly document how end-user opt-in (consent) is collected and managed. This page is that record.

Operator of the WhatsApp Business number: RIDEOUT PTE LTD (UEN 202527884Z), Singapore. Contact: hello@rideout.sg.

How we collect opt-in.

We only message users who have actively given consent through one of the following channels. We never purchase, scrape, or import phone numbers from third-party lists.

1. Booking form on rideout.sg

When an operator submits the booking or quote form, the form includes a clearly labelled, unticked checkbox:

Consent checkbox copy

"I agree to receive WhatsApp messages from RideOut about my bookings, dispatch updates, driver ETAs, and receipts. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out."

We store the submission timestamp, the IP address, the phone number provided, and the exact consent text shown at the time of submission.

2. Initiating contact with us on WhatsApp

If you send the first message to our WhatsApp Business number (+65 8136 1428) — for example by tapping a "Talk to us on WhatsApp" link, scanning a QR code at one of our partner venues, or saving the number and writing in directly — that user-initiated message constitutes opt-in for an ongoing operational conversation about your enquiry and any resulting booking.

3. Verbal or written consent during onboarding

When a new venue or driver is onboarded by a member of the RideOut team, we ask explicitly whether the contact phone number may receive WhatsApp notifications, and we log the response (date, agent, response) in our CRM before any message is sent.

What we'll send you.

Once you've opted in, you can expect transactional, service-related messages only:

  • Booking confirmations — when a trip is locked in for your team.
  • Dispatch alerts — when a driver has been assigned, with name and vehicle plate.
  • ETA updates — when the driver is en route or arriving.
  • Trip receipts & invoices — at the end of each shift or billing cycle.
  • Service-critical notices — e.g. a route change, driver swap, or weather-related delay affecting your booking.
  • Replies from our team — when you message us first with a question.
Example · Dispatch alert
RideOut: Your driver Ali (SHC2842K, silver Toyota Vellfire) is on the way. ETA 11:47pm at 23 Circular Road. Reply HELP for help, STOP to unsubscribe.

What we will not send: marketing campaigns, promotional offers, third-party advertising, or messages unrelated to your booking — unless you have separately and explicitly opted in to marketing communications, which is never bundled with operational consent.

How often we message.

Frequency is driven by your bookings. For a typical operator with nightly rides, expect 2–6 messages per shift (confirmation, dispatch, ETA, receipt). For a one-off enquiry, expect fewer than five messages across the entire conversation. We do not run recurring broadcast lists.

How to opt out.

You can withdraw consent at any time, free of charge, by any of the following means:

  • Reply STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT to any RideOut WhatsApp message.
  • Email hello@rideout.sg with the subject "WhatsApp opt-out" and the number you'd like removed.
  • Tell any RideOut team member during a call or in person; we will log the request and confirm removal within one business day.

Once you opt out, we will stop sending notifications immediately. We may still need to contact you by a different channel (phone call or email) if there is a safety-critical issue with an active booking already paid for.

To resume messages later, send START from the same number or re-submit the booking form.

Help & support.

Reply HELP at any time to any RideOut WhatsApp message and you'll receive a short reply describing the service, the number to call, and how to opt out. For anything more involved, email hello@rideout.sg or message us on WhatsApp directly.

How we handle your data.

Phone numbers, consent records, and message logs are stored on Twilio's infrastructure and on RideOut's encrypted production database. We retain consent and opt-out records for as long as legally required under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), and message content for up to 24 months for dispute-resolution purposes, after which it is deleted.

We do not sell or share your phone number with third parties. The only processors that touch your number are Twilio (message delivery), Meta / WhatsApp (transport), and our internal dispatch system. You can request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of your data at any time by emailing hello@rideout.sg.

Changes to this policy.

If we materially change how we collect or use WhatsApp consent, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the change affects you, notify you on WhatsApp before the change takes effect. Continued use after a notified change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
